My favorite day of the trip.
Boat fishing in the Westfjords was amazing. Captained by the legend himself, Magnus, it took no more than 5 minutes out on the water to catch our first Cod. Sonar tracking on the boat (and a 30 year veteran), led us straight to a school of Cod, and with a simple hook and lure, we dropped our lines and had bites instantly.
Not a huge boat, but still capable of hauling hundreds of kilos of fish. This boat was equipped with some nice tech. GPS navigation, and even a fishing line that reels itself in when it feels a tug.
Everything from the ocean smell, to the slimy scales of the cod, and a couple of beers out at sea; I felt like a true Nordic fisherman. The experience was one-of-a-kind, and I developed an even further appreciation for Icelandic fish.
