Patreksfjörður. Iceland's "fish capital". 4 hours from the international airport.
A small town, but big fishing industry. One of the main reasons for this trip was to come here and learn as much as we could about Iceland's fishing industry. A town surrounded by more natural wonders, like the red sand beach, natural jacuzzi-like "hot pots", and of course, lots of fish.
The next few days were the highlight of this trip. I was fortunate to be able to visit a high-tech, state-of-the-art fish processing facility, a site in the middle of the ocean where salmon are nurtured, and ate some of the best fish I've ever had.
